1. What Is the STAR Program? The STAR Program provides transportation to medical services for elderly residents of St. Charles County who have no other means of transportation.
2. Who Is Eligible for the STAR Program? To be considered for the STAR Program, you must: o Be age 62 or older o Be unable to drive or lack access to a vehicle o Be a US citizen or legal alien o Be a St. Charles County resident
3. Where Will the STAR Program Take Me? Individual volunteers use their own vehicles to drive seniors to and from their appointments at hospitals, doctors' offices and other medical facilities. Trips for chemotherapy, radiation and dialysis are not included. Shopping is not included in this transportation program.
4. How Do I Arrange a Trip With the STAR Program? Passengers schedule their trips with the STAR transportation coordinator by calling 636-978-3306.
5. How Far Ahead Do I Have To Schedule? Make your reservations at least three days in advance. Because reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, early scheduling is encouraged.
6. What If I Have To Cancel a Reservation? Except in an emergency, cancellations must be made 24-hours in advance.
7. How Much Does This Cost? There is no specific cost for the transportation. Contributions for services provided are welcomed and may be made directly to the STAR coordinator by mail.
8. How Do I Apply? Call the program coordinator at 636-978-3306 to schedule an in-home assessment of your transportation needs. The program coordinator will complete the application to get you started in the STAR Program.
